Members of the Progressive Caucus and Congressional Black Caucus rejected the debt deal because of cuts to domestic spending and lack of tax increases for the wealthy. Among them was Democratic Rep. Donna Edwards of Maryland, who summed up her disappointment on Twitter, writing, “Nada from million/billionaires; corp tax loopholes aplenty; only sacrifice from the poor/middle class? Shared sacrifice, balance? Really?”
